The mission of the Professional Teaching Standards Board (PTSB) is
to ensure that every student is served by competent, ethical
educators who meet rigorous performance standards.
The Professional Teaching Standards Board (PTSB) was created by the Wyoming legislature in 1993. It was established as a professional board to support educators in monitoring their own profession. Wyoming is one of 22 states with an autonomous teacher licensing board like PTSB. PTSB is overseen by the Governor's office, and by the legislature, and is separate from the Wyoming Department of Education. The legislature authorizes PTSB to promulgate rules and regulations to license educators, set fees, revoke or suspend licenses, and approve teacher education programs.
