Institutional Recommendation
Minimize

An Institutional Recommendation is an official form, usually completed by the Dean of the College of Education at the applicant’s college or university, which not only verifies that the applicant has met all requirements for completion of his/her program, but also “recommends” the applicant for endorsement in the areas which correspond with his/her teacher preparation program. An example of the Institutional Recommendation can be found in most PTSB application packets under the "Supplemental Forms" section.

If you want to assure yourself that Wyoming will issue you a teaching license, or issue an added endorsement, your first step is to get an Institutional Recommendation completed by the college(s) or university(s) you attended for all your endorsement areas.  If you cannot get the Institutional Recommendation, you will not be eligible for licensure or the added endorsement under Wyoming's traditional licensing route.  You may be eligible to pursue an Alternative Route.

Please Note:

When requesting an Institutional Recommendation, be sure to have your institution list any/all endorsement areas you are seeking.

PTSB does not do transcript evaluation to determine endorsement.  You will ONLY receive endorsements for the area(s) listed on the Institutional Recommendation.

The IR must be filled out completely.  An IR that is missing information cannot be processed.

The IR must bear the institution’s official seal.
