Wyoming Licensure Requirements
Minimize

All teachers and administrators employed in a Wyoming school district must be licensed in accordance with Wyoming state law.  PTSB upholds the highest standards for teacher licensing and requires all Wyoming educators to have completed an approved teacher preparation program in order to become licensed to teach in a Wyoming school district.  There are two routes to teacher licensure in Wyoming.

Traditional Route to Teacher Licensure
The traditional route to teacher licensure in Wyoming requires the completion of a teacher preparation program from a regionally or nationally accredited institution of higher education. Teacher preparation programs are typically offered through the College of Education at most colleges or universities.  The program must include student teaching and lead to a degree in Education in a specific endorsement area or areas.  The program must also lead to an Institutional Recommendation for Licensure.

Alternative Route to Teacher Licensure
Wyoming offers an alternative program for secondary licensure through the Northern Plains Transition to Teaching (NPTT) program located at Montana State University-Bozeman. This program is funded by a federal grant and allows individuals to work in a Wyoming school district while they obtain their teaching license. The program requires a bachelor's in a secondary teaching field and employment in a Wyoming school district.
